Recently I posted a blog called Writer’s Crossroads about deciding on what to write next. A month later I am still struggling with that decision. I’m not sure what my hold up is exactly.
I have actually written the first couple pages of the sixth book in my paranormal wedding planner series which means that I am heading in that direction, right?
Maybe. Because then I wrote the first couple of pages of the potential first book in my Mind Sweeper shifter spin-off trilogy.
And as amazing as I try to be at balancing my day job with writing and publishing, I can’t write two books at once. So I really, really, really need to make a decision and settle back into my writing process once again.
Do I roll the dice? Ask my magic eight ball? Shuffle the deck?
Any suggestions on decision-making would be greatly appreciated!
When an author writes “the end” to a story, it’s an amazing feeling. But it also signals the author to gear up for what they are going to do next. If they are in the middle of a series and have obligations to finish that, then it isn’t hard to make a decision to move forward.
For me, I will be publishing books 4 and 5 in my paranormal wedding planner series this fall which leaves book 6 to go. And I will get to that book soon. But right now, I am at a crossroads. Because when I’m done with book 6, I have to decide what I want to write next.
I have some ideas (all possibilities and not certainties, aka – no promises!).
I could write a spin-off shifter trilogy for my Mind Sweeper series and tie up the loose ends for my unattached characters – Doc & Jason for one, and Grffin for another…
I have also been toying with writing a cozy mystery series as well…
I could pull a partially written book I have started that would jump start a new trilogy on some pretty interesting supernatural that I have been playing with…
Or, I could work on a new series that’s starting to form in my brain which would be very different than what I have written before…
See? A lot of options to sift through. And while they are exiting, they are also a bit daunting. So any suggestions (or votes) would be appreciated. I’m writing for my readers after all…
Book Three in The Realm trilogy is heading out into the world today! As usual, I am sharing my release day kickbutt writer princess picture with you! Tah, dah!
I am so excited to share Sergei’s story with you. Both Misha and Aleksei are larger than life and I love their personalities (and don’t worry, they both play large parts in this book) but there is something special about Sergei.
Sergei sees himself as a disappointment to his family, but they set him straight like good families are supposed to. And that’s another reason why this story is special – yes, it’s about Sergei finding purpose and love, but it’s about the importance of FAMILY.
I hope you enjoy this book! It has been a wild and crazy year – especially releasing a new book a month for three months (whose idea was that, anyway?).
Take a look and if you missed the first two books, Misha and Aleksei are waiting patiently…
And before I sign off, today is Veteran’s Day in the States and I have to take a moment to mention the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the armed services. Thank you.

Hallelujah, my friends! The day has come where Misha’s story heads out into the world. Today is the release day for DEMONS WILL BE DEMONS!
Misha and I want to welcome you to our celebration. It includes food (for Misha), tiaras (for me) and bubbly (for both us)!
Those of you who have been along for the new release day celebrations in the past know that I take a tiara pick to celebrate my kickbutt writer princess status. And since I can’t disappoint my readers, I have attached the pic!
In addition to my tiara pic, I spent this past weekend at a writer’s conference where two of my dearest writer friends – Sonali Dev and Miranda Liasson – agreed to celebrate in true tiara style. Check us out below!
Miranda insisted on holding Misha, since he is one of her book boyfriends! But all three of the brothers insisted in being in the picture!
I hope you are as excited as I am about the release. Feel free to crack open a bottle of bubbly and join the celebration with us!!

If you have ever seen the musical Grease, there is a great song called Summer Lovin’ where we get to find out how Danny and Sandy first met. I’m going to take the liberty of switching the title around a bit to discuss this week’s topic – Lovin’ Summer.
Where I live, we’re in the midst of summer and I love it. There is something so freeing about summer. Maybe it’s because I live in the north where I’m trapped inside in the winter months, or maybe it just has to do with the fact that the sun doesn’t set at 4pm, making me want to crawl under the covers by five.
Freedom from heavy clothes and shoes. Wiggling my toes in my flip flops. There is something amazing about it for sure. But summer also makes me want to free myself of responsibilities.
But that is not going to happen. Why? you ask… because when summer is done and fall is here, my demon trilogy will release. So even though I’m sporting flip flops right now, I’m still getting my books written, edited and ready for you. In my stories, Misha and his crazy family are enjoying a Cleveland Summer. I may be channeling my seasonal love through them, but that’s fine.
It will just keep summer around a little longer!
As promised, my friends! Here are the covers and titles of my new spin-off Mind Sweeper Series. This series is all about Misha and his outrageous family. So much going on today!
First, is the series blurb (individual blurbs will be coming as well in the future – don’t worry). Second are the covers, and third is a question you need to answer…

THE REALM BLURB:
Misha is one frustrated demon.
Aleksei is one busy demon.
Sergei is one lost demon.
Three very different brothers…looking for the same thing – love.
Here’s your VERY IMPORTANT question:

So my characters have been talking to me. They want to know why I’m not sharing their stories yet with you. I have tried to explain that publishing is a process. There are edits, proofreads, covers, formatting, etc. And this takes time. Fall will be here before we know it and their stories will be in your hands.
But here’s the thing. My trio of heroes are impatient, alpha demons. So as a compromise, I’m going to share a couple lines from Misha’s book tonight since he can’t wait for you all to get a taste. And then I’m sure Aleksei and Sergei will weigh in on this battle of wills and want quotes from their stories as well.
All in due time, right?
So here goes…
Looks like Misha’s got himself into a pickle, huh? We’ll just have to see how things play out. If I know Misha, he’ll work it out with the help of his family and friends.
Happy Monday, my friends! You may have noticed last Monday that I didn’t post a blog. I was away for Memorial Day weekend with my family. It was so wonderful to reconnect and spend time with everyone. It seems like we go a million miles an hour now on planet earth which leaves us little time to celebrate each other. But I did get some quality time with my family and it was GOOD.
This past weekend I spent time with my imaginary family; three crazy-sexy demon brothers, an over-the-top father, a mischievous grandmother, and an opinionated adopted sister. You guessed it, I was reading through the demon trilogy books in preparation for edits.
Whew – what a crazy ride that was. Three books in two days, making sure they flowed together and made sense. As much as Russian demons who live in Cleveland can make sense that is. But these books are very much about family. Let’s face it. Most people don’t fall in love with one person and only interact with them. Oh no, family is definitely involved. And in this trilogy, family is play a HUGE role in the relationships. They provide angst, and humor, and frustration, and support. And they add layers to the story, and giggles, we can’t forget those!
So I got to spend time with my imaginary family this weekend and it was GOOD too.
Have I piqued your interest? Why in the world would 9556 be a magic number? Well, that is the number of words I wrote this weekend on my third novel in my demon brothers series. And the best part of that number? The last two words were THE END!
Wow, I am so happy to have the first draft done, done, done! Cue the music, confetti, balloons, and chocolate, because AE has written Misha, Aleksei, and Sergei’s stories.
Now we jump into edits, edits, edits! And then the books should be heading your way in the fall. I can’t wait to share this Russian demon family’s stories. It was great to dive into Misha’s family in a big way.
Normally an author provides splashes of backstory to build a character. In this instance the back story actually got to come to life in the form of two more sexy demon brothers, an outrageous Grandmother (Babushka) and a smooth-talking Father. So we get romance, and family drama, and learning how to fit in. We also have some cute kids thrown in as well!
Over the next few months, I’ll be telling you more, more, more about these stories. I’ll also share covers, blurbs, and release dates.
I just wanted to share the news, so you could celebrate along with me! And don’t worry about things getting too crazy. My celebration last night included a vanilla/chocolate twist cone with crunch.
Yep, I know how to throw a party!
You might think that my blog title this week is a bit strange, but let me explain. While some people see corrections as a bad thing, I put my writer’s hat on and say, “no way!”
Edits are actually a very GOOD thing. My editor sent back edits on the first book in my demon trilogy and while those red-line edits and comments might seemingly glare at you, they serve a purpose.
Besides the obvious purpose of catching typos and grammatical errors, edits can catch issues with flow, logic, plot holes, character issues, etc. You name it, a good editor can find it.
What I learned early on in this writing business was that I wanted to give the best possible story to my readers. To do that, I had to put away my ego and accept that having someone else help me just makes sense.
In this instance two heads are better than one. So when Misha’s story is finally released, it’s truly what everyone has been waiting for…
