It’s finally release day, my friends! FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF, book 4 in my paranormal wedding planner series is out in the world. I am so excited to share Connor and Olivia’s story with you. I knew when I wrote TO HAVE AND TO HOWL which was Jack’s story, that people would get to know his twin, Connor, as well.
And boy did you!
So it was only fair that Connor got his own book and his own Happy Ever After, right? Of course, I’m not making it easy for him to get there. I mean, what would be the fun in that?
Release day would not be release day if I didn’t take my ‘kickbutt writer princess’ picture! So as you can see, I have my ‘priceless’ tiara sitting firmly atop my head! I am also going to continue with this fantasy and say that I am sitting on my throne and not the rocking chair on my front porch…
I hope you enjoy the story. Please note that you can read FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF as a standalone, but it’s also fun to read from the beginning – your choice 🙂
Olivia is a psychiatrist who follows the rules. Connor is a werewolf who breaks them. Polar opposites except for one thing. Neither are looking for a relationship. But Fate decides to intervene in a spectacular way. And there is no fighting fate…
In one week, FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF will release. I can’t wait for you all to read Connor’s story. Connor is one of the werewolf twins and he is such a fun character, I think you will really enjoy him. And Olivia is such a great foil for him!
With 7 days until the release, I thought we would celebrate this week with some teasers and a book sale! Look out for the teasers later this week, but the book sale is running now. TO HAVE AND TO HOWL, book three in my wedding planners series is on sale for a limited time at 99 cents.
HOWL is the story of second love. I have a special place in my heart for this couple. It features Jack who is Connor’s twin. So even though the books in this series are all standalone, it’s fun to read the other twin’s story as well.
Check it out below…
TO HAVE AND TO HOWL – 99 Cents for a Limited Time!
Law means following the rules. Love means breaking them.
Julia Cole is a lawyer on a mission. After three long years, her husband’s murderers have been convicted. Until their leader breaks out of magically-strengthened, impossible-to-break-handcuffs in the courtroom, that is. Someone is helping them. And that someone is threatening Julia. But she will not back down from them or the man tasked to protect her…a man who scrambles her long-buried emotions.
Jack Dawson is a werewolf with a secret. One that could change his life forever. But his problems have to take a back seat while he protects Julia. He can’t afford to let down his guard—against the evil forces threatening Julia, against his growing feelings for her, fighting to be heard, and against his secret—which could destroy everything.
Can Julia and Jack finally let go of their pasts and begin a new happy ever after together?
Today in celebration of my upcoming release on September 16th, I thought I would share the book trailer with you. Yay!
Now on with the show!

And before I sign off, I want to wish a happy Labor Day to those of you in the US and Canada. I also wanted to send out thoughts and prayers to anyone who is currently, or will be shortly impacted by the hurricane.
Last week, I revealed the cover of FOR WITCH OR FOR POORER, book 5 in my wedding planner series. And I thought it would be fun to share with you the twisty-turny journey I went on to get it to you.
Actually, it wasn’t just me on the journey. Melissa Stevens my cover artist from the Illustrated Author, came along for the ride. But let’s back up to the beginning. What you might not realize is that Melissa and I worked on all six covers for the series back in 2017. The first three books in the series had been written and when we finished those covers, I was so jazzed at the amazing job Melissa did that I asked her if she wanted to work on the final three covers.
She agreed, and we moved forward with them. The fourth book, FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF, that is releasing on September 16th, came next. I already knew who the hero and heroine were and where I thought that story was going to go, so we moved forward and created the fun cover with the shadow of the wolf on the couch. Hee, hee – I still get a kick out of that!
I also knew who my hero and heroine were for book six, so we created that cover as well. Five down, one to go, right? Well…the WITCH cover was a harder nut to crack. I knew who the hero was but was not too sure of the heroine or where I was going to go with that book. So we worked on that cover and worked on that cover and (you guessed it) worked on that cover until we finished it.
Or so we thought.
Flash forward to 2019. I finished writing the WITCH book and knew that the cover just wasn’t right. The heroine was wrong (which is a little funny since she is a cartoon after all). But we found a new heroine for the cover. And even though the fish bones in the background were cute and a salute to the cats, they just weren’t right either. So we toyed with the whole idea of a bubbling cauldron and bubbles were added in the background. And in a flash of creative brilliance, Melissa added them to the top of the cauldron and voila!
A cover that worked for the story!
So why spend so much time on a cover? Simple. The cover draws the reader in. It is one of the biggest selling points to a book in this digital age. And with my books, whether it comes to the story or the cover, I follow my instincts. And they told me the cover wasn’t done yet. So I listened and instead of telling me I was crazy, Melissa came along on the ride with me and made the cover what it needed to be!
It’s hard to believe that FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF will be out in five weeks! I shared the cover and blurb with you a couple weeks ago, and I thought you might want to actually get a sneak peek of it by reading an excerpt. So, check it out below…
“Relationship” is not a four-letter word.
Connor Dawson’s wolf wanted out—bad. But the hairy dude would just have to wait a bit. Lately his animal side had been getting more and more riled up, and nothing seemed to appease him. But then Connor wouldn’t exactly say he had been feeling very appeased lately, either.
It didn’t help that the sun would soon be setting and tonight was a full moon. Unlike the stereotype, werewolves didn’t turn into uncontrollable beasts under the full moon. But the moon did call to his inner Fido rather loudly. And since Connor had a case, Fido needed to chill.
Connor was part of an unofficial law enforcement team tasked with ensuring paranormals didn’t kill each other or, at the very least, didn’t clue humans in to the fact they exist. And while humans thought vamps and werewolves were cool in the Hollywood sense, in reality there were a lot more to keep quiet about—elves, faeries, nymphs, witches, gargantuans, vampires, gargoyles, shifters, scores of demons—the list went on.
Right now, he stood outside a typical house in the San Diego burbs. On the inside, however, typical was not on the agenda. A philandering husband and a pissed-off witch wife made for a volatile combination.
The wife had been turned over to her coven for punishment and the husband to a healer for…well, healing. Now they were left with the cleanup.
Connor opened the door to the team van as his teammate Giz walked out of the house with a box. Smoke wafted lightly from the top. Which made Connor a little twitchy. But Giz insisted he had muted the spell used on the toaster. Since Giz was a techno-guru and a powerful warlock, Connor would take his word for it.
Sparks shot up from the top. On second thought…
“Are you sure you shut down the nastiness?”
“Yes. It won’t hurt you. The spell was designed specifically to attack the husband. You definitely don’t want to cheat on a witch.”
“Female shifters aren’t too keen on adultery either,” Connor said. And he couldn’t blame them. He might like to play the field a bit, but he didn’t get involved with married women. Even he had a conscience.
Giz stashed the box in the van.
Connor shut the door. “This is why I won’t be getting married.”
“You won’t be getting married because no woman would have you.”
Connor bristled. “What the hell does that mean?”
“Except for a few supernatural species, most marriages are based on monogamy. Do you need me to define it for you?”
He knew the definition of monogamy. He just never got into a situation where he had to practice it. Relationships were not his modus operandi.
“Very funny. Don’t tell me you’ve been drinking the happily-ever-after Kool-Aid.”
Giz grinned. “It’s hard not to thanks to all our teammates catching the lovebug.”
Lovebug, hell. It was more like love fungus or bacteria, or black mold. Connor and Giz were the only two of their five-man team who hadn’t succumbed. Which was more than fine with him.
Love made his brother and his friends more than a little stupid. And, Connor reluctantly had to admit, a lot happy. But he couldn’t imagine how he would ever find that kind of happiness—not that he was looking. He hoped for their sakes their happiness would last, but he’d never seen love work out over the long haul.
Of course he and Giz were handling this case while his teammates were spending time with their significant others. And after Connor and Giz wrote up their notes to send to the supernatural Tribunal and disposed of the magically toxic toaster, they would go back to the house, where they lived like a couple of overgrown frat boys, and stare at each other over pizza and beer. Which didn’t sound very appealing.
Nope, on second thought, he needed to go out and find a little no-strings companionship.
But then he wasn’t one to keep score.
….So. What do you think? I think Connor is going to be a tough nut to crack in the relationship department, don’t you?
Last week I teased that you would soon be getting more details on my upcoming releases in my paranormal wedding planner series. FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF will release on September 16th which is just seven short weeks from now!
I know many of you have been waiting for the next books in this series and so I am giving you not one, but two that will be coming your way this fall.
To kick off the celebration, let’s start with a cover reveal AND a blurb for the book. Check it out below.
For Better or For Wolf
“Relationship” is not a four-letter word.
Olivia Jennings is all about following the rules. A psychiatrist with a tragic past, she dedicates her life to helping others. Controlling all aspects of her life—especially relationships—protects her battered heart. But when she learns supernaturals exist, her carefully constructed world crumbles. Drawn into counseling a werewolf pack, she butts heads with the ridiculously handsome but infuriating wolf determined to protect her.
Connor Dawson is all about bucking the status quo. He’s not looking for commitment or love. In fact, after being rejected by his pack, he’s certain he’s immune to that particular emotion. But when Olivia inserts herself into wolf business, his hackles stand straight up. No one is more surprised than Connor when their teasing banter turns into serious attraction.
When Olivia and Connor are thrown into the middle of a pack war, things heat up…with an attempted murder, a political power struggle, and their sizzling chemistry. Will this explosive situation finally bring them together—or blow them apart?
So what do you think???
I really loved writing Connor and Olivia’s story and can’t wait to share it with you!!
Preparation, preparation, preparation, that is my motto right now. Why, you ask? Because I’m working on releasing two new books this fall. And with those releases come a lot of moving parts.
In September, I will be releasing FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF, book 4 in my paranormal wedding planner series, followed in October with book 5, FOR WITCH OR FOR POORER.
Very soon, I will be sharing covers, blurbs, excerpts, trailers, teasers…you name it, and it will be coming your way. And of course, I also have to finish edits and all the other things that need to be done to send my new babies out into the world.
I really enjoyed writing both books and the two main couples were fun to write in their own way. It’s amazing to me how they all become so distinct in my head as I bring them to life on my computer screen 🙂
So stay tuned! I hope you plan to come along for the ride. It should be a wild one!
This past weekend was perfect for me. Why? I didn’t go anywhere elaborate, or do anything exciting. Instead I spent it sitting on my father’s porch. He has a great porch with rocking chairs, and a swing, and even a picnic table on it so you can do whatever you would like while relaxing and enjoying the summer.
The temperature was perfect – sunny and in the lower eighties (Fahrenheit) . And NO humidity. There was a breeze and if that wasn’t enough, my dad has a ceiling fan that can be turned on to circulate air.
I sat for two whole days on that covered porch, reading though my final proof of FOR BETTER OR FOR WOLF. And I snacked on ice cream and some other yummy dishes as well. At one point, I sat in a rocking chair reading a book for pleasure as the breeze blew across the porch. At that moment, I realized how perfect it was. No fanfare. No lights and whistles. No deadlines. Just peace.
And it also made me appreciate that there is perfection in simplicity. My wish for you is that you find that moment of perfection, of simplicity and enjoy it. We don’t get a lot of those, so savor it when it happens!
